When I was young, I began piano lessons at the age of seven. My mom served as my example as she studied piano at the same time. I continued with the piano until I was 13, but then my musical interests changed to the guitar when my older brother began to play. I’ve been playing the guitar exclusively for over 30 years.

When I began guitar lessons, I studied under Mark Hamre and learned classical, finger style, flamenco, and Spanish guitar styles over 8 years with him. At the same time, I studied for 5 years with Myles Kennedy and Joe Brasch to learn jazz, blues, and rock guitar styles.

I started teaching guitar lessons in 1993 and, on Myles Kennedy’s recommendation in 1997, taught guitar at Rock City Music. Two years later Mark Hamre recommended me to all his students when he left Spokane. Along with private lessons, I currently teach classes in school district alternative programs.

In addition to teaching, I regularly perform at local music venues, weddings and private events around the Inland Northwest.
