Guitar lessons are customized for each individual student. I approach the guitar from a classical standpoint, both in my own playing and with my students. Under my instruction, students learn sight reading, music theory, and ear training for contemporary music styles such as rock, blues, bluegrass, jazz and alternative. My current students are working on guitar pieces in a variety of styles; classical, flamenco, Spanish, blues, bluegrass, alternative, rock, rockabilly, metal, and fingerstyle.

As I work with students, I hope that my positive reinforcement will inspire them to believe in their abilities and – even more important – to want to play their guitars. I personally play every day from a wide musical repertoire and derive a great deal of satisfaction from it. I hope my students capture my enthusiasm and respond with enthusiasm of their own so they experiment, practice and learn how to play.

Each student brings a unique approach to the instrument and responds differently to guitar lessons and my instruction. I have learned that the more I teach, the more I learn how to teach. I try to be open-minded toward my students’ needs, and I believe that approach has enhanced my teaching skills. I believe in treating my students with respect, and I try to make it as easy as possible for them to learn so they will enjoy guitar playing as much as I do.

The guitar is an extremely versatile instrument. With proper instruction, on-going guitar lessons and dedication, a student can achieve musical greatness with whatever style he or she wishes to play. I would like to help them achieve that greatness.
